Hello there! I decided to move my blog back to blogger . Go here to visit it . I have also handpicked some of my favorite posts and moved it there.

I do not know if I will maintain this blog anymore. It’s because I find wordpress (I still love it, ok?) not that flexible and compatible with other applications that include html codes. I cannot put tagboard and the amount of photos are very limited. I can’t also save a different layout, aside from the themes they have. There are also few other disadvantages of wordpress, especially if you have the free version (not upgraded). I cannot put haloscan, adsense (or any other ads) and more. There is no freedom in handling codes because they said that it’s for security reasons.

So that’s my main reason why I’m moving back to blogger. As far as I can remember, I moved to wordpress because there’s too much codes to handle in blogger (not the beta version). I can’t believe that too many restrictions from wordpress could actually make me run back to blogger with open arms!

So anyway, I hope that you’ll support me. And kindly change the link, ok?

Guess what? We just received the greatest news of the semester!

Drum rolls please!

MY PHILOSOPHY PROFESSOR IS GETTING MARRIED!

No, I’m not happy because he’s tying the knot and planning to have lots of babies and all….. ah well, I guess I should congratulate him afterall.

Ultimately, I’m happy because he is planning to take a leave. You know, with all that marriage things and some businesses he have to settle!

NO PHILOSOPHY! WOOHOO!

Geez! I sound so like a slacker. But so what? I mean… this could only mean… No more sleepy head (that’s me) at last! Hurry, congratulate me too!

Have you ever attended a class that’s so lame you just want to sleep (or leave) forever? Well, I have. It’s our Philosophy class. I know, I know, Philosophy is not that great. But a class like that plus a really boring prof makes you wanna snore your troubles away.

My mom told me that Philosophy is a really interesting subject. I was like, “since when?” and “I really can’t relate!” I was baffled because my mom is a cool mom. She’s not one of those old fashioned women who wears loose t-shirt and long skirts. And yet she find that subject interesting? If you like sleeping a lot, then that’s interesting for you. That subject is like a sleeping pill. But my mom? No way! That’s what been running through my mind until she asked if my prof is good. She told me that a subject is interesting if the instructor is interesting as well. Well, she’s a lucky one. If her prof back then is so good, well, mine stinks!

You can’t find me mean because all my classmates think the same way about “the prof”. Not only my classmates but also my former classmates from another section.

In my own point of view, excluding the instructor, Philosophy is a nice and easy subject. I read the book and I like it. It makes you wanna think about life and its principles in a serious way. But I didn’t expect that it will make me really sleepy in the actual instruction.

The first day of class is so boring that you want to jump out the window and fall into a coma until his period is over. Then walk away as if nothing had happened.

There was no meaningful introduction whatsoever. He just introduced the subject. He was so anxious to start the lesson, he even forgot to introduce himself. While our other profs were making us laugh until our stomach hurts because of their humor in introducing themselves, he’s making us feel disinterested and even more, frustrated.

So much for first impressions, huh?

Well, as they said, first impressions really last.

The rest of the class is like heaven. Not coz’ it’s nice but coz’ it feels like your sleeping on top of the clouds. And the fact that I’m sitting at the back, doesn’t help.

I was really frustrated until he attempt to crack a joke. So my droopy eyes widen a bit for that good ol’ green joke. Expecting a nasty laughter that will make my eyes teary and my nose spit out mucus (gross), it was ultimately denied. The joke was so empty, considering it’s a green joke, my mind went blank for a couple of minutes until it completely shut down and my head met the table.

His vapidness ruined the subject’s image. He should be ashamed. But NO! He did nothing but brag about his views in life. What the hell do we care about it? Even if it’s related to the lesson, it’s just not worth listening to.

My opinion is that he should be a hypnotizer instead. “Your getting sleepy… When I count 1 to 5, you’ll close your eyes and fall into a deep slumber…” Well, I don’t need any counting for that matter. He just start the lesson and I’m off to dreamland. Hey! If he become a hypnotizer instead, all the people with insomia will adore the poor guy! Come to think of it, not a bad idea. Not a bad idea at all.

 I just love the choreography! It’s also perfect how their voices blend together!

Yesterday, we had our Assessment of Student Learning 1 subject. The lesson was going smoothly until we had our activity. My professor asked us to get our Skills Development notebook and answer the activity when suddenly, my classmate cried.

I thought that she was crying because of her boyfriend or something. Honestly, I have no clue on what was going on or why she cried. She was covering her face to hide her tears. I pitied her. So I asked my seatmate. My seatmate told that she’s crying because she didn’t bring her skills development notebook. I was like, WTF man?

She cried with a simple reason just like that?! I know that our prof clearly warned us that if we didn’t bring our skills development notebook, there won’t be any activities for us. And I do understand that your grade will automatically become zero if you don’t have an activity. But hello? You don’t have to cry for such simple reason. It’s not like it’s a major exam or something! For crying out loud, it’s just an activity. I know, I sound so mean. But who wouldn’t? My classmates who also forgotten to bring their s.d. (skill development) notebook rolled their eyes. They are not crying or making a big deal out of it. It’s because they know that it’s their fault for not bringing it when our prof had reminded us a couple of times to always bring it.

What if she’s already a teacher (btw, our major is computer education)? And what if she didn’t bring her lesson plan because she already mastered the lesson, and thought that she doesn’t need it anymore? Then suddenly, the principal had a surprise inspection to every class in the school. When the principal asked where is her lesson plan, what’s she gonna do? CRY?

What gets me the most was when she approached our prof to make an excuse for her. It’s really annoying, if you know what I mean. There are like seven of my classmates who also forgot to bring their s.d. notebook because they thought that we are not going to use it. And she had the nerve to approach our prof in front of us and say that? She told our prof that she was sick and that’s the reason that she didn’t bring her s.d. notebook. Hello? If she was really sick, why’d she have to attend our class? She actually attended all of our classes from 11 am to 7 pm. And considering that our Assessment of Student Learning 1 was our last class (6pm-7pm), it’s either she’s too stupid to realize that she’s sick and needs rest or she’s just making an excuse.

My prof was really feeling sorry for her because she was crying. But their were protest on the faces of my classmates. It’s really unfair if she would be excuse, right? Our prof then asked her questions, and she slipped her tongue and said that she thought that were not going to use it. To be fair, my prof explained to her that being sick is not an excuse, especially if the reason you didn’t bring your s.d. notebook was because you thought that your not going to use it. And our prof also told her that if she’s going to be excuse, then everyone else should also be excuse, because they all have the same reason. But if everyone will be excuse, then there will be no discipline imposed. They should all learn their lessons. Fair enough. So she returned to her seat, still crying.

I was really irritated by her. I mean, I don’t hate her because she cried. Everyone of us have the right to cry. Only that she cried for the wrong reason, and that got me and my classmates pissed off.

I admit that I cried a couple of times when I was in elementary and high school. Begging my teachers to let me take the exam. I know how it feels to be left out and watch while your other classmates were doing an activity. But that was high school. We are now in college. And in college you should take responsibilities for your own actions. You don’t cry because you forgot to bring your notebook, or book or any thing that you have to bring but didn’t. You tell yourself that you promise to bring it next time. That’s what adults do. Crying over something that was a result of either stupidity or forgetfulness won’t help. Instead, everybody will just think that you’re a prima donna or a diva.

Don’t get me wrong. I wanted to sympathize with her and lift her spirits. But how am I gonna do that if I’m answering and talking at the same time? And then I’m gonna show her my s.d. notebook and my answers and say, don’t worry, you could copy if you want…. But that won’t help, will it? :p hehehe…

Hey guys! Last day, I’ve passed my application form for our campus Writers’ Guild! I hope they’ll accept this humble girl as a member…

Actually, I have a feeling. Something inside me, tells me they WILL!

I never thought that working in the library can be sooo INTERACTIVE and so exhausting. Like yesterday, people kept on inquiring about their library cards. And their so kulit about the overnight books too. It’s annoying and fun at the same time.

The fun part?

 The cute guys! So many boys at the COE (College of Engineering) Library! Different kinds! There are the geeky ones, the cuties, the BIG ones (I mean tall and fat ones), the skinnies and many many more! Their like foods. Italian, Japanese, Korean and Filipino foods. My mom kept on teasing me. She said that I might find my future boyfriend there. WHHAAATTT????!!!!! Hala ka! Marinig ka ng daddy ko!!! I told her. Hehehe.

Hmm… Both of my favorite subjects……….. Books and jobs! What are you thinking, ha?!

The job at the library is a breeze, in normal situation, I mean. But when the going gets tough… I gotta be going. Hehehe! Just kidding! Of course, I have to deal with stuff like that too. Pero that’s okay kasi I have special privileges naman. Like I can borrow a book for 1 whole month. Tapos pwede rin akong mag-borrow ng books sa reserved section, overnight or kahit one month pa! How cool is that?!

Tipid pa. Kasi I used to burn money (about 500 or so, student budget lang po) every mall trip, sa fiction books pa lang. It’s because I’m addicted sa classic novels. But now, I don’t have to worry about paying fine or several library trips just to read my favorite novels. And ultimately, I don’t have to buy one!

Today, I helped the librarian list and sort out books (which go to which library college). There are so many new books. I’m a bookworm so I find them all interesting. And there are all donation from the Asia Foundation, but the books are from America. Such nice people!

But what the heck are we going to do with American History Book?!!!! We are not Americans, you know! But I guess, there’s no room for being picky, it’s free anyway. But seriously dude, it’s useless. We don’t have a subject like that. Unless, I plan to migrate at the U.S. and want to learn more about them… hmmm…. Why not?

I can’t wait for my pay!

Hi there! I haven’t blog for such a long, long time now… Oh boy! Have I got news for you!

 Ladies and gents…

Yours truly, Vanessa, has found a job as a student assistant in the College of Engineering Library.

I don’t have much time to discuss it in details right now. Maybe next time. For now… all I can say is…. it’s the coolest, nerdest and most quiet job ever! haha!

Last FEBRUARY 2007 my inang (grandma) celebrated her 87th birthday. It was a happy occasion. My inang requested to have balloons, cake and ice cream. It was like a children’s birthday party. All of our relatives attended it.

Weeks ago, my inang was rushed and confined to the hospital. She was in pain. Seeing how the doctor put the plastic tube inside her mouth down to her stomach, to see if there’s still bleeding inside, crushed our hearts. Her tears streaming down her cheeks while saying: I’m very tired. Please God, take me… At that moment, I sincerely wished that she die a painless death.

Last JUNE 1, 2007, my inang passed away. I was the second person to know about the news. It was hard. I didn’t know how to react at that time, or what to think. I felt stupid, especially when my uncle asked me to text my Kuya Ker, my mom and my Ninong Boy to deliver the terrible news. I couldn’t find the right words.

I was in tears when my uncle left me alone with my inang at her room. He went to our other relatives. As I touched her cold, lifeless hands, I realized how much she means to me. I love her very much. VERY MUCH…

The only regret I have is that I didn’t see it coming. I mean, I know that sooner or later, she will be taken away from us. The thing is, God somehow gave me a sign to say my final goodbye but I completely ignored it.

I was listening to some music when my uncle asked me to text Kuya Ker and ask if he’s coming home. He also told me that inang was having difficulty in breathing, that’s why he is asking Kuya Ker. I texted Kuya Ker and there was no reply. So I continued listening to the music I was playing.

MINUTES later, my uncle yelled at me: Vanessa! Vanessa! Si inang patay na! (Inang is dead!) He repeated it for at least 3 times until I finally realized what was going on.

There’s only regret now. Regret because I should have went there the moment I found out that inang was having difficulty in breathing. I should have check her situation. Instead I just continued whatever I was doing. I could have saw her at the final minutes of her life. I could have say goodbye.

I’m sorry God for ignoring your sign.

All I can do now is pray for her soul. Because I trust Him completely.

I love you, Inang. Thank you for being my grandmother.
